Is the Eden Club Now An Actual Possibility?
According to
the fact that a “sex doll brothel” is opening next month in Toronto, yes, it is.
A company,
called Aura Dolls, is planning to open a brothel on September 8th
that involves solely non-human workers, using androids that are described on
their website as such:
“Our dolls
are made from the highest quality of TPE silicone which mimics the feeling of
natural human skin, pores, texture and movement giving the user a virtually
identical experience as being with a real partner. We offer a wide selection of
the most beautiful, exotic girls to cater to everyones choice of beauty. Browse
through our selection, and find the girl of your dreams!”
Services
offered include half an hour with one doll for $80 and 2 hours with 2 dolls for
$240.
As of the
time-being, there are six dolls that have their own profiles which are detailed
in almost excruciating specificity.
Her name is
Jazmine.
“Jazmine loves to have
fun and is very social but also enjoys deep sensual conversations and
doesn’t mind listening to you all night long.”
There are of
course questions being raised by the fact that there’s going to be a brothel
that’s full of androids, such as: how sentient are they? Which demographic does
this cater to? Will it deviate from its programming and try to kill me?
Er, I mean… how are we going to forget everything that Detroit: Become Human has taught us?? This sounds like exactly the wrong thing to do. Guys please I don't wanna die from getting choked out by Robo-Jesus. I still need to pay off my student loans.
How will
this fine company establish their boundaries and regulations?
In what ways
will this affect technology and the development of truly intelligent bots?
Apparently, the
owner of the company said that customers will likely not even see another human
being in their time there. Another issue that this incites is how degrading it
can potentially be towards women, assuming that these bots are made only for
the gratification of straight cis-gender men.
The question
that some are asking is if the solution is not to create any more bots for
sexual gratification, or if it should be more diverse in its demographic- if there
should be bots catered to women and other sexualities.
But, the
bottom-line seems to be that we will have no other choice but to sit and wait
as this company opens and events unfold.
Well, at
least they’ll have free parking. That’s what’s really important anyway.
