Facebook Hack Still Being Investigated

Hacker Leaves 50 Million People At Risk

On Friday, it was announced that Facebook has gone through a breach of security, which could affect up to 50 million users and Facebook automatically logged off more than 90 million accounts to ensure their personal safety, although they did also say that there is no reason for anyone to change their passwords.

Fear not! The hacker is a friend and there is no reason to change your passwords at all. *Nervous laughter* Trust us!

They are still trying to figure out who might be the ones behind this breach of security, though some say it might be linked to a hacker's comments on a previous livestream about deleting Mark Zuckerberg's account. Aside from that being a largely damning and ambitious comment, some have been speculating that the person who said that might be tied in with whoever was the one to hijack other accounts.

I will put inspiring messages in 90 million people's inboxes! Fear me!

Facebook claims that the security vulnerability has been patched, but they still are unsure if there is any data that has been accessed by the hacker(s) or what effects this may have had on others.

Another question is: why?

Who is this hacker (or who are these people) and what reason do they have to hack Facebook and threaten to have Mark Zuckerberg's account deleted at their hands?

It is no secret that Zuckerberg has gained his fair share of adversaries and rivals, so who can say that this is not a small part of something bigger?

As of the moment though, all we can do is speculate and wait for more statements from Facebook and their spokespeople and hope that our information is actually safe.
