Germany Bans Pre-Orders to Games that has no Release Dates
It means that game developers or publisher cannot sell games anymore that was not confirmed and doesn't have the final release date.
A consumer protection claim was pointed in this ruling, it didn't came from Video Games Totally but it was caused by a claim made against Media Markt (Retailer) after a consumer protection group has filed a complaint regarding the Pre-ordering of Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Rule has widen the scope which included the Video Games.
According to Wolfgang Schuldzinski, CEO of Düsseldorf Consumer who commented on the decision:
“When consumers order goods on the internet, providers must specify by when the goods are delivered,”
It looks like Germany really cares about their Consumers as this ruling was made in order to provide Protection for Consumers. Pre-Ordering with no release date is like paying money and waiting for comeback if that game will ever release or nah just like what happened to a UK Retailer (Gameseek) who offered Pre-Orders of the Unannounced Game (Half-Life 3), after getting Pre-orders, Gameseek went out of Business which made Customers really angry.
The Screenshot of Gameseek listing of Half-Life 3 is still available on reddit
Why is this not a Worldwide Thing?
